Utah State University STARS! GEAR UP offers numerous programs and activities during the school year to enhance learning and college readiness. In addition to our popular summer camps, we have now added two spring break college bus tours to our 2020 line-up.

Granite District Jr. High Student Earns $1,000 for College

Inspired by GEAR UP Week, a student from Hunter Junior High School in the Granite School District, applied for her first scholarship. She designed a winning bookmark and now she has a 529 college savings account with her scholarship started in her name.

About Us

The Utah State University STARS! GEAR UP program is part of the School of Teacher Education and Leadership in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally-funded program designed to help students prepare for and succeed in college. USU created the Science, Technology, Arithmetic, Reading Students (STARS!) partnership program to provide academic support, mentoring, and guidance to help a cohort of students, starting in 7th grade, reach a post-secondary education program that meets their needs.
